Camden Green Fair
Latest NEWS:
AGM: July 8th - 6:00-7:30 (venue to be confirmed)
The Annual General Meeting of the Camden Green Fair will take place
on July 8th 6:00 - 7:30 pm
Please confirm your attendance by June 22 so that we can book a suitable venue for the meeting.
Please forward this message to people you may think would be interested in attending.
As you all know the Camden Green Fair did not take place this year, but those of you who attended the Camden Green Fair History Tent on June Sunday 7 at at Regent's park (a project expertly led by Charlie Willsmore) and the BikeFest will know that we have inherited an organisation that has produced some fantastic events in the past and we certainly have among us the expertise and will power to produce even more effective events.
This AGM is very important because we have to make clear decisions about the future of the Camden Green Fair
The main decisions we have to make are
1) Structure
We need to elect / re-elect trustees . All those of you who wish to stand as trustees should send an email to the current Chair of Trustees: Wendy BaverstockPlease do consider standing for this position. The role of the trustees is to advise the charity. We need expertise in : public relation, corporate sponsorship, community engagement, volunteer recruitment, budget management, business development etc . If you choose to stand, then you would need to declare what time commitment you can give to the charity : there is no upper or lower limit!.
2) Partnerships
A potential way forward for the Camden Green Fair is to develop partnerships with other organisations. We should discuss on what terms this could take place
3) Year Long Activities
One of the most promising sources for a grant to support a much needed Coordinator is the Bridge House Trust which however would consider our charity more favourably if we had year long activities that culminated in the Fair. We need to discuss what these activities should be and who can take charge of them.
4) Theme(s) for Camden Green Fair 2010.
We should decide what these themes should be as it affects the grants we can apply for
Your Camden Green Fair: New Project
The next Camden Green Fair will be in June 2010, but if, like us, you’re missing the UK’s favourite Green Fair this year, don’t worry! Get involved with our latest project to capture the history of the Green Fair. Through an exhibition of Green Fair memorabilia and a film of people’s stories about the event, we’ll be charting the development of the Green Fair from a few hundred people in St James’s Gardens to 30,000 or more in Regent’s Park.
Join CineCabAGoGo – the solar-powered cinema in a recycled London taxi – when we hit the streets of Camden this month and be part of our film...
We’ll be at Kentish Town City Farm on 25th May, 10am – 4pm; in front of the Roundhouse on 26th May, 10am – 4pm. Bring down your old t shirts, posters, photos and films and share your highlights, memories and memorabilia to contribute to our interactive, multi-media exhibition.
Contact us if you have anything you’d like to contribute: info@camdengreenfair.org.uk.
The exhibition will be launched on the Broad Walk in Regent’s Park on 7th June, 10am – 6pm
Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund
The event is part of Active Travel Sunday, supported by the Royal Parks
The Camden Green Fair is held in Regent's Park on the first Sunday of June, to coincide with World Environment Day and London Sustainability Weeks. The Fair aims to teach Londoners about the huge and growing number of sustainable companies, products, campaigns, and lifestyle choices that are available to us all.
The Camden Green Fair, now in its 19th year, was started as a local event by a group of enthusiastic activists from Camden, with the aim of raising awareness within their community of various environmental issues. Camden Council later helped grow the Fair into its current form and it is now the UK's largest free environmental awareness raising event. In 2008 the Camden Green Fair became a charity (Registered Charity Number 123370) overseen by a board of trustees and is delivered by a team of volunteers and a small number of paid professional. This Website is under reconstruction.
