Welcome to the GreenHouse, Camden Green Fair’s brand new educational installation to help show people how to make simple changes to reduce the environmental impact of their homes.

A surprising amount of our overall carbon footprint comes from the everyday activities we carry out every day in our own homes. Getting up, switching on the radio, having a shower, brushing our teeth, boiling the kettle for a cup of coffee and eating breakfast can all have a significant impact on the environment. And that’s before we even leave home…

Simple changes to our daily routines can make a big difference, especially if everyone does their bit. Turning off the tap while we brush our teeth, adding a water-saving device to the toilet cistern, and only filling the kettle with as much water as we need are a good start. In the GreenHouse you’ll be able to learn about ways to have a more positive impact. Talk to experts and pick up information on your visit to our exciting new attraction.

Before you go, make sure you check out our garden, which includes information about urban bee keeping, creating wildlife habitats, composting and making the most of a small, city garden or balcony. All you need is a window box…

Expert advice will be provided to visitors at the Fair by GreenSteps www.greensteps.co.uk and members of Camden Council’s Sustainability team.

The GreenHouse has been constructed from environmentally friendly materials. Items within the GreenHouse include organic curtains and eco-friendly wallpaper supplied by Harland's Organic Furnishings; solar panels from Joju; cleaning and Fairtrade products from Co-op and Ecover; Country Classic flooring from Heuga and many more innovative eco-home solutions generously donated by green businesses.

Carbon footprint is a measure of the amount of carbon dioxide or CO2 emitted through the combustion of fossil fuels; in the case of an organisation, business or enterprise, as part of their everyday operations; in the case of an individual or household, as part of their daily lives; or a product or commodity in reaching market.
