The things families do together can have an impact on the environment. Even without knowing it, the food we eat, the clothes we wear and the way we spend our spare time could be damaging the world around us. Our Green Families' zone includes lots of fun and creative activities for children as well as information about green issues affecting families. You can find information about using real nappies, healthy eating and breast-feeding (as well as finding a quiet place to change nappies and breast-feed). There will also be family priority toilets in this area. Activities include willow-weaving, junk percussion workshops, a chance to make carnival accessories from found materials, and much more. Just next-door is the popular Green Roadshow with its eco-themed, solar powered circus performances. In this area, Acorn House restaurant will be serving up healthy picnic boxes. Meanwhile in the Bikefest on Chester Road, children and teenagers can have a go on the climbing wall or test their cycle skills on the obstacle course. You can also have a ride on go-karts made from scrap wood by local kids. For more information please go to the activities page. The Green Roadshow has been generously funded by London Borough of Islington, London Borough of Camden and DIY Planet Repairs/Good Going. The circus tent will remain on-site for an extra day to allow an additional 1,200 school children from Camden and Islington learn about environmental issues for free. Bookings only. For information please contact the coordinator. |
