- Ethical Fashion Show

The Camden Green Fair was very proud to host the London CRN Ethical Fashion Show on the open air stage to launch London Suistainability Weeks 2007.

The Fashion Show was a real highlight of the whole day and we'd like to congratulate the following people:

London CRN for their vision and for all their hard work in organising the show. They did it with the help of...

Pupastudio who made the incredible artworks which transformed the open air stage into a gorgeous backdrop for the models...

Paula and Dominic from trendy Shoreditch eco-hair and beauty salon, the Green Salon, for all their time and expertise. They worked behind the scenes on hair-design and make-up for all the models...

And the wonderful Jennie Matthias who lifted everyone's spirits and reminded us what Ethical Fashion is all about.

Last but not least, congratulations to all the models who were absolutely stunning! They all gave up their time and stepped up on stage in front of thousands to promote ethical, recycled and charity shop clothes. It was amazing.

What was the Ethical Fashion Show all about?

Long gone are the days when the only ethical fashion options were itchy shirts and tie-dyed skirts. The Ethical Fashion Show at the Green Fair proved the case that, when it comes to fashion, being ethical and being green doesn’t mean compromising on style.

The Green Fair Steering Group was pleased once again to host the launch event for London Sustainability Weeks (Love London) at the Green Fair with an Ethical Fashion Show produced by event partners, London CRN. The show featured clothes by high street brands alongside those made by local companies. All the clothes promoted issues such as reuse, recycling, active lifestyles or organic materials, and highlighted the ethical issues surrounding the manufacture of clothes.

All of our gorgeous models were volunteers from the local area. They include our very own ‘size zero models’ (looking fabulous in real nappies), through to our most senior model… who is 92 years young!

The compére for the fashion show was singer-songwriter Eugenie Matthias (Jennie) of Belle Stars fame who toured Europe and America in the 80s working with artists including Paul Weller. Jennie later set up projects for local charitable organisations using the arts as an educational tool for teenagers, and she coaches the army on drug awareness.

“One of my all time hobbies is to buy and sell second hand clothing. I am also extremely fond of all styles especially when young people focus on their own creative ensemble.” Jennie Matthias

Special thanks to Paula and Dominic of Green Salons who will style our models for the show. Their expert help and experience, and their willingness to go the extra mile, have made such a huge difference!
